Introduction

Arcopedia is a space to manage content for promoting and discussing Arcosanti.

Mission: The mission of this site is to supply simplified and clear content explaining the effort at Arcosanti and how it relates to sustainable development and similar efforts around the world. It is important to note that at the current time Arcosanti is not a model for sustainability but rather offers a place to consider what a sustainable city/habitat might look like.

Vision: To help move the project forward towards reaching the ambitious goals to facilitate future development at Arcosanti that would make the project a model for sustainable habitat construction and operation.

Current Wiki Activities and Focus Areas:

  1. Make Arcosanti a Model of Sustainability - This is a broad use of the word sustainability in terms of social, economy, cultural and ecological considerations. Sustainable means that you design a strategy that considers the frugal and effective use of resources to ensure max gain and realization of human potential for the smalles amount of dollars/resources.
  2. "Process Oriented" Replication - Getting information about the construction department and related areas at Arcosanti with consideration to how the Arcosanti model could be eventually be replicated to other locations around the world.
  3. Effective Communication to Mainstream of Core Arcology Message - Developing an effective message for promoting Arcology themed, sustainable habitat development in other locations around the world.
  4. Be the Change - Inspiring others to consider this vision and approach and contribute to the effort on a practical level.
Site Design: The wiki is broken into various sections:

Disclaimer: The site is being compiled primarily by Jeff Buderer. It is designed and envisioned as a resource for those who are interested in the practical applications of Paolo Soleri's work on Arcology and also the community aspects of Arcosanti. The website does not reflect the views or official positions of the Cosanti Foundation - the organization that runs and manages the Arcosanti project and for whom he works for.
